International Podcast Day

Podcasting has been immensely popular throughout recent years with the advancement of the digital age. Many content creators have managed to utilize this platform to grow their audience and further the discussion about a specific topic. With recent worldwide stars such as John Rogan, Joe Budden, Charlamagne Tha God and many others that have managed to gain millions of views on a single video upload it is no surprise that there is no shortage of podcasts coming out in today's age.

International Podcast Day is a day celebrating the growing media of podcasts and for people to have the opportunity to connect with fellow podcasters and podcast listeners and the numerous leaders in the podcasting industry. Podcasting was set to have started in 2004 by Adam Curry and Dave Winer.

The inventors of podcasting are Adam Curry a former MTV VJ and Dave Winer, a software developer. Two friends wanted to find a way to download online radio broadcasts to an iPod. The term itself 'podcast' comes from two words I-pod and broad-cast. As technology grew so did the podcast industry now valued at $23.75 billion in 2023.
